Tsz Wan Shan residents will be tested as the government expands its laboratory surveillance to the district, which has seen over 100 residents infected since early this month, Secretary for Food and Health Sophia Chan Siu-chee said.
Tests will also be extended to high-risk groups, including wet market vendors, staff at disabled students’ dormitories and minibus drivers this week.
Residents of public housing estates Tsz Ching, Tsz Lok, Tsz Man, Tsz Hong and Choi Fai will be offered free tests, covering around 40,000 people.
Two Tsz Ching buildings, where residents have tested positive, will be the first to receive test bottles today.
